Before founding JHC Advisors, Jay retired as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Global Head of Aerospace and Defense at Barclays. Long considered one of the leading investment bankers and advisors in the space, Jay completed more than 200 deals spanning M&A advisory, capital raising, and LBOs.During his 25-year investment banking career, Jay completed advisory assignments for all six of the prime defense companies and more than 75 other aerospace clients. He played a key role in industry-defining deals such as Northrop Grumman / Litton, General Dynamics / Gulfstream, Raytheon / Hughes Aircraft, Carlyle / Booz Allen, and Engility / TASC. Most recently, Jay advised Jacobs Engineering on its KeyW acquisition as well as some of the largest LBOs to date in the sector, such as Carlyle / StandardAero, CVC / Ontic, and Advent International / Cobham.
Jay has most recently worked with Apollo Global Management regarding their investment and participation in Micross as well as alongside Mitre Corp with regards to potential strategic investments.
Jay started his banking career at Merrill Lynch in 1993. Before investment banking, Jay was an officer in the US Navy and flew the carrier-based F/A-18 Hornet from the USS Eisenhower during the First Gulf War in support of Desert Shield/Storm, completing over 200 carrier landings; he is a Distinguished Naval Graduate.Before his service in the Navy, Jay graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He received his MBA in Accounting / Finance with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
